So sorry to hear of the passing of dear Mary. What a wonderful woman, grandmother, mother, friend and community person! My fondest memory of her was when she brought Michelle for piano lessons (teacher Eleanore Gibson). Mary would chat and knit while she waited for the lesson to be over. My dad (Art) and I would chat with Mary and dad would hook his rug! We shared alot of laughs too! Hold your wonderful memories of her in your hearts during this sad time. Louise and Murray Louttit

To the whole Eadie family:
On behalf of my Mother, Kathleen Baird, as well as myself, we send our deepest condolences to you all. Mary was not only the matriarch of the Eadie family but also the matriarch of the whole Gilmour Line and the Belmore Community. Mary and Mac were 2 of the best neighbours we ever had throughout the last 45 years Mom and Dad (Len Baird) lived on our farm together.
Throughout the years, Mary would call Mom and referred to herself as “your old friend on the hill.” Mary was an incredibly shrewd person when it came to the rules of baseball, curling, bookkeeping, and she had an intuitive way of figuring out a person just through a simple conversation. Mom always referred to Mary as her “wise sister on the hill” and Mary never hesitated to help, or lend a helping hand, whenever needed.
My own memories of Mary reflect upon going over to her place Trick or Treating for Halloween. She would stare at Mark and I and say “and what are you both supposed to be?” Mac would sometimes be home and would acknowledge Mary with a “yep” or “I see them.” People who knew Mac know he was “a man of a few words” but always said enough. :)
Mary will always be remembered as a pillar of the Belmore Community. She looked after so much when it came to Belmore Softball, the Belmore Park and Arena, and she even looked after the management of Belle Haven Apartments. Mary was a highly intelligent woman but never let on that she knew more or less than anyone. Mom and Mary used to swap books with each other and they eventually became their own book club members.
To Phil, Dave, Chris, and Michelle. Words cannot fill the void you must all be feeling right now but just know that Mom, Mark, and I are thinking of you all. Dad always referred to Mary as “a classy woman” and we will always hold her in the highest regard and memory. Mary was truly a remarkable woman in life and I can imagine she will be talking to Dad right now on how the Toronto Blue Jays need to pick up their game. Mac will likely give his few words as well. Mary was proud of you all as well as your children and grandchildren. Always know that she left a wonderful legacy for this community of ours and you will be the ones to carry her interminably bright torch.
Deepest regards,
Shawn Baird
