Our deepest condolences to the Ross family on Don’s passing. Regrets we cannot be in Wingham today. A privilege to live stream and hear the service and the tributes. Nicely done. Don served his country. We say thank you. I recall visiting the Ross farm many years ago. Knew Don’s parents as Bob and Jennie. Sincerely, Janet and Don Dirstein (nee Gaunt), Ajax.

There are certain relatives in every family that linger in your mind. Each year November 11th has a very special meaning for me as Uncle Don played an important role in our Canadian history. He seldom spoke about being in the war, however, as a young man it must have had an incredible impact on the importance of how he saw the value of life. A dairy farmer who worked tirelessly seven days a week, seldom taking a day off. As a kid his gruffness was scary, but as an adult I truly enjoyed his sense of humor and listening to conversations. One does not have to be large in stature to be mighty in conviction, and Uncle Don fit the build. In these later years he was just as feisty and stubborn as I remember from years ago. Dave and Kim you shared your home and lives with your Dad and that offered him grace and dignity. We are honored to make a donation to the Lucknow Legion branch 309 as a tribute to the service provided for our freedom. He will be missed by all. Sending our love, Janet, Cliff & family

Warmest sympathies Dave, Kim & family. Don always had time for a friendly chat. We often remember Jean and Don in Dominican in 2006, I believe it was. To Don's family, I extend my condolences on the passing of such a wonderful gentleman. My late husband, Harvey, and I bowled with both Don and Jean for many years here in Lucknow. It was always a pleasure to chat with him on Thursday afternoons and watch his silent approach and no fuss about aiming the ball down the alley. We were very often amazed at the big score Don would record. I will remember Don and Jean with much fondness. Pat Livingston.
