So shocked to hear of Nancy's passing. From our years at St.Jerome School throughout KLCVI days Nancy was a fun loving talented person who treated everyone with kindness & respect.There are too many wonderful memories coming to mind to share with all of you.I guess we have to treasure those special times for the rest of our days.

It is with a heavy heart that I come to this site as I don't want to believe that Nancy is no longer with us. My sister Diana and I played softball with Nancy in Kirkland Lake as children and young adults. Though we have not stayed in touch over the years, special friends such as Nancy have a strong hold on our hearts and beautiful memories. On behalf of the McNamara family and all its members I send sincerest condolences to Nancy's family on her passing. Our families go a long way back as kids growing up in Kirkland Lake in the 60's, while our parents friendship started back to the 40's. Nancy was a true caring person and a dear friend. I'm so sad to hear this terrible news. I used to play with Nancy when we were in Elementary School. I remember birthday parties, broomball and girl guides. All kinds of fun things. In more recent years I'd hear of a visit here in Kirkland and always be sad that I missed her. Rest easy Nancy.

I went to elementary school St. Jerome in Kirkland Lake with Nancy. We had lunch at her home many many times as I was a bus student. She was a truly genuine loving and kind person. Sending prayers to the family and dear friends of Nancy!
Nancy let her light shine always! She was a fierce warrior for the 'underdog' and she saw the good in everyone. Nancy hired me as a teacher and I was blessed to work with her in Kingsbridge, Wingham and Clinton. She was an amazing mentor and friend who taught me so much about what it truly meant to be a 'teacher!'

She will be in my memories as a ray of sunshine, which she radiated in her beauty, smile, humour, personality, positive attitude, kind and thoughtful ways! She lived life to the fullest, her love of sports, music, animals, travel and having a good time in all that she did. She was a momma bear foresure, ....her giving soul, sharing her canned goods with others, visiting sick friends.... she loyally protected her family and friends. I have so many comforting memories of your mom, the good times at the legion, the dancing and carrying on and of the annual shearing of the alpacas. So sad she was taken from us way too soon, she will be sadly missed!. May the memories you have comfort you at this time!

Nancy was everyone's favourite teacher. I looked forward to the reward of making it through the elementary school system to have the coveted Ms Barrett as my Grade 7/8 teacher. Her ability to connect with even the most misbehaved of us was something I haven't witnessed since. Even packed into a portable with a class of 42 kids, she kept her cool and made it look easy. My love and thoughts to the family as you deal with a loss that will be felt community wide. I will cherish the lessons I was lucky enough to learn from her.
