Obituary of Allen Bertram Balser

At Leisureworld Caregiving Centre, Elmira on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, Mr. Allen Balser of Elmira, formerly of Wingham age 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Berry) Balser who predeceased him in 2003. Dear father of George and Mary Balser of Waterloo. Grandfather of Stephen, Allen, Nancy, John, Dawn, Rhonda, Debbie and Shari. Also survived by his son-in-law John Clelland of Cambridge his sister Marie Cook of Moncton, New Brunswick and nine great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Elias and Almeda (Taylor) Balser, his daughter Maureen Clelland and by his brothers Bliss and Leverett Balser. Allen was a licensed electrician and served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. Upon discharge he worked for the Canadian Federal Government until his retirement. Allen was a past president of New Brunswick Trades and Labor Council and served on committees such as The New Brunswick Historical Society and The New Brunswick Technical Institute. After his move to Wingham from New Brunswick he became involved in local Heritage Building Preservation. Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham, Ontario on Monday, from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:30 pm. Reverend Wayne B. Beamer officiating. Interment in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham, Ontario. Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
