Obituary of Jan Bakker

At Wingham & District Hospital on Thursday, July 18, 2013, Mr. Jan "John" Bakker of Wingham, age 93 years. Beloved husband of the late Tryntje Terpstra (2011). Loving father of Spike and Jennie Bakker of Langside, Douwe and Corrie Bakker of Sarnia, Bryan and Annemaria Bakker of Mississauga, Harry and June Bakker of Blyth and Linda and Peter Brink of Whitechurch. Brother of Wybrig de Haan of Stratford, Rein and Grietje Bakker of Guelph, Dieuwke Martens of Brampton and Bakke and Jacobes Cupido of Edmonton. Brother-in-law of Klaas Jorritsma of Brussels. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his sisters Janna Reitsma, Jantje Jorritsma and his brothers-in-law Sybren Reitsma, Cornelius de Haan, and John Martens. Visitation at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham, Ontario on Sunday from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Lucknow Community Christian Reformed Church on Monday at 2:30 pm with visitation prior to the service from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm. Pastor Rita Klein-Geltink officiating. Interment in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham, ON. Memorial donations to Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
