Mrs. McDonald was my favourite teacher! First day of Grade 9, she handed out her expectations for the class…and scared us all! Zero on a test, even if you were sick!
She was a wonderful teacher, so expressive and we loved her story telling. I thought of her many times over the years. She was an excellent role model and led by example.
My condolences to the family,
Movita Bradley

I was lucky enough to have Mrs. McDonald as my Grade 11 English teacher. She inspired us to reach for more and helped us achieve what we didn't think was possible. She was not only our teacher, she was friend and mentor to all that were lucky enough to be in her class. She left an indelible mark in my life that will not be forgotten. My sympathies to the family and friends.

Ardis and Michael,
My deepest condolences to you both. Your Mother was a person who appreciated her solitude and she had a profound intellectual depth to her. I had Cheryl as my Grade 11 English Teacher and she made me a better writer. My Dad spoke fondly of your Mom and your Dad, Larry, was (and will forever be) one of my Dad’s best friends.
I remember after I read a eulogy at Uncle Lorne’s funeral, your Mom came to me directly, at the Wingham Cemetery, to tell me how impressed she was and that Uncle Lorne would be “so proud.” I will never forget that level of kindness, sincerity, and compassion your Mom had for me that day and I know she would not just say that if she didn’t mean it.
Ardis and Michael, I know you have both endured so much in such a short while and I hope you come to have a reprieve to reflect on the legacy your parents have bestowed upon you. I know it isn’t easy to lose a parent, especially both, but I hope you know that both your parents will live inside of you so long as you keep their memory alive.
I will alway cherish the birthday parties and playing at your house near the brush in the neighbourhood we call our childhood home. It’s hard to believe how so much has changed in less than a decade. With that being said, I want you to know that you are both in my thoughts and prayers and I genuinely do mean that.
I hope our paths cross again in the near future.
Deepest regards,
Shawn Baird

Mike and Ardis, you have my sympathy in this huge loss to your family. Your mom taught me a couple of different classes at F.E. She was a favourite of mine because her love of English shone through in her teaching. Her classes were fun!
Then after Sarah passed her caring, kind words and thoughtful cards over the years meant so much to me. I hope knowing that she will be reunited with your dad eases your pain. Thinking of you all.

I'm saddened to read this. I was fortunate enough to have Cheryl share her knowledge twice -- Gr. 11 general and Gr. 12 business English. I enjoyed her style of teaching and being such a down to earth person. A particular assignment for 12 business made us delve into researching a potential career. One that I remain in today and received a darn decent mark on from Cheryl. May she rest well. My condolences to Ardis and Mike.

Ardis and Mike: I was devastated to hear about your Mom's death. When I started teaching at F.E. Madill, she was a mentor to me, especially when it came to under5standing "ANIMAL FARM!! She did such a great job, it became my favourite thing t0o teach. As the years passed we shared many wonderful times as part of the F, E. family. I missed her at school when she retired. Since I retied, we enjoyed many lunch get-togethers with our "Madill Munchers".I know you will miss her very much but remember all the good times you all shared, with your Dad, too. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May Mom rest peacefully.
Love to you both,
Mary Ann Cruickshank

Ardis, Michael and Ann Marie, Sending my deepest sympathy. I had many good teachers but two stood out to me. My first grade teacher and my grade 12 English teacher.....Mrs McDonald. Many times over the years I was fortunate to cross paths with your mother and we would share a welcomed conversation. I always left those chats feeling like I had just received the warmest hug. Your mother will be dearly missed.

Chad and I are sending our deepest sympathy. Cheryl held a special spot in my heart and I felt honoured to know her. She was kind, caring considerate and always made conversation engaging. High school isn’t an easy spot for many and she had the ability to know who needed that extra shoulder. We maintained our friendship after school and we always went out of our way to connect afterwards. Sending all the love Ardis.
