Obituary of David Wallace
At St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener on Thursday, July 11th, 2024, David Wallace of Belgrave passed away at the age of 75.
Husband of Marie Wallace of Belgrave. Dad of Sandy Wallace & Jeff Ball of Bayfield and Jamie Wallace & Kristyn Englert of Goderich. Grandpa of Ashton. Brother of Bob Wallace of Palmerston, Doug Wallace of Brussels, and Harold & Ann Wallace of Freelton. Brother-in-law of Jack & Bobbi Denny of Clifford and Bob & Donna Denny of Fergus. Dave will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Harold & Alexina (Stewart) Wallace, brother Stewart Wallace (Verna), sister Margaret Minster (Bob), sisters-in-law Mernie Wallace and Jean Wallace and father-in-law Eldon Denny.
Dave and Marie were married in Arthur on July 24th, 1971 and started their life together in Brantford. They moved to the Goderich area when Dave took a job with Champion Road Machinery. Then, in 1993 they purchased Ernie King Music in Wingham from Ernie and Darlene and in that same year opened their Goderich location. Dave was a pillar of the community dedicating many years to the vibrant musical landscape of Wingham and Goderich. Through Ernie King Music, he not only provided instruments and equipment, but also nurtured a love of music in countless individuals. His stores were not just places of business but havens for local musicians and music enthusiasts. A proud Mason with the Clinton Masonic Lodge, Dave embodied the values of brotherhood, charity and integrity. Dave’s melody may have ended, but his song will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
A Masonic Lodge service will be held at the Wingham Columbus Centre on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. A Celebration of Dave’s life will follow, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Masonic Foundation of Ontario or a charity of your choice in memory of Dave would be appreciated.
