Obituary of Ron Finlayson

At Alexandra Marine & General Hospital on Sunday, June 30, 2024, Ron Finlayson of Goderich passed away at the age of 88.

Devoted husband of Kay (Griffiths) Finlayson of Goderich. Loving dad of Lynn Finlayson and Mark Finlayson both of Kincardine, Leana Diehl of Sebringville and Jamie Finlayson of Mitchell. Brother of Robert Finlayson of Kincardine and Donna Heslop of Mount Brydges. Ron will be missed by his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents John and Ruby Finlayson, sister Linda Young and brother Vern Finlayson.

Ron proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1954-1959. He was stationed on the HMCS Haida, a Tribal-class destroyer ship. Following his naval service, he went on to attended Fanshawe College in London and worked at Victoria Hospital as an orderly. He also worked at the Government Mental Health Facilities from the late 70’s through the 80’s as a supervisor. Ron had a love of woodworking, building many decks and roofs, travelling and had a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich or the Alzheimer Society of Huron-Perth would be appreciated.
