I'm just reading about Mrs. McMichael's passing now, I'm so sorry to see this. You were all the best neighbours a little girl like me could have, I'm so thankful for all of you. I got to visit with your Mom once when I worked at St. Mary's and she was admitted, it was lovely to reconnect with her. I have such fond memories of all of you - and your Dad, who was the first person to dub me "Curly Cate". Loved that.

To the McMichael family
I first me Ethel Ries as I started school at SS # 6
She welcomed four Ziegler kids from my family to Grade 1.
Plus four other Ziegler cousins
In those days there was 40 + students from Grade 1 to 8..
She managed to get them primed for high school.
Ethel made the new arrivals very comfortable. She always had a few candy bars in her desk for the spelling bee winners.

So many memories of growing up with Janice and her family in Wroxeter! Ethel stood behind me in the church choir and her beautiful alto voice would keep us all in key! Ethel was the Sunday school superintendent and my mom was a teacher. She baked cake for Ron to have at lunch and baked pies for him to eat at supper!! Those pies won every year in the Howick fair! Ethel drove the girls all over for stepdancing competitions and shows! They always were beautifully dressed in their matching outfits which Ethel sewed! Cherish all those incredible memories!
