Obituary of Catherine Leyland
In Huron County on Monday, February 13th, 2023, at 10:09 am, Catherine Louise Leyland of Belgrave, formerly of Guelph, passed away with the love of her life by her side, at the age of 58.
Catherine is survived by her devoted partner Christopher Blythe, her sisters Maire (David), Claire (d. Robert), and Sally (Richard), and her nephews, Matthew, Michael, Liam, and Oskar. And her black cat, Alleycat. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Maureen (nee Forrester) Leyland.
Catherine was born August 14, 1964, in Don Mills, Ontario. She attended high school in Guelph at GCVI and graduated from the University of Guelph, with a degree in Economics. After graduating, Catherine pursued a career in the financial field, working for many years for Paul McSorley as a financial administrator.
Catherine, while she never bothered showing her hand very much, was a clever, intelligent, witty and funny person, that only a few were ever privileged to really see. She managed through all her struggles and disappointment, with cancer giving us an unexpected gift of calm and peace in the face of terrible adversity. Catherine was at her happiest in her new home in Belgrave working to slowly turn her garden into a more natural area with indigenous plants and flowers and when exploring Huron County.
A graveside service and interment will take place in the spring at Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
