Obituary of Isobel Larson

We are saddened to announce the passing of Isobel Larson (nee Schiestel) of Kitchener after a courageous battle with cancer on June 10, 2021, at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 76. Loving mother of David Obermeyer (Birgit) of Kitchener. Cherished grandma to Ashton Obermeyer (Jachson Bach) and Aryn Obermeyer (Alex Snow) all of Kitchener. Special Granny to Noah Snow. Sister to George (Christine) Schiestel of Port Elgin, Jim (Eileen) Schiestel of Teeswater, Betty Hewitt (Jim Shaw), Jessie (Brian) Martyn, Ken (Sandy) Schiestel and Anna (Jamie) Needham, all of Wingham. She is remembered by many nieces and nephews and her much-loved extended family. Predeceased by her parents Margaret (Wadel) Pollock and Frank Schiestel, brother Donald Schiestel (1976), step-father Murray Pollock (1986) and brother-in-law John Cieslik (1992).

The family wish to express their thanks to special friends Bill Ste. Marie and Carol and Paul Baker, and deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at the Freeport Campus, for their compassionate kindness and support to Isobel during her final days with us. Isobel touched the lives of all she met with her kind deeds and gentle spirit.

Due to current restrictions, a private family visitation and service will take place with interment in Teeswater Sacred Heart Cemetery.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date when we can all really be together to pay tribute to her life and honour the memories of this very special independent lady!

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy, and may be made through the McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham.
