Lisa, I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have so many fond memories of Shirley from our teenage years! What I remember the most is Always feeling welcome in her home. I have known Shirley Sallows for 40 years. I have been a part of the family For over 25 years. I met Shirley when I was only 17 years old. I visited her and family in Wingham regularly usually once or twice a month. She always made me feel welcome and part of the family right from the start. We have still kept in touch over the years as she became grandmother and great grandmother. I would like to say how much I admired this great lady as a single mother raising 5 children working 2 jobs. Working at the bakery & driving for the mentally challenged to school and activity programs. Though her finances may have been tight she always made everything work. It is amazing how she managed family dinners, Birthdays, Christmas presents for all. Shirley and I share the same birthday October 16th. Even though we had less opportunities to meet in the recent years we usually would connect on our birthdays especially when I was in treatment 3 years ago. I had the opportunity to visit Shirley twice at Huron Hospice and at our last visit we had shared a mini Christmas. I brought a mini homemade crafty Christmas tree with Christmas music, and gift. She said I thought of everything. I do love Christmas and wanted to share with her. Just as she and Roseanne sent me special Wizard of Oz Christmas ornaments a few years ago. We reminisced many of our favourite memories like our big birthday party. It was my 30th and her 51st birthday. We had lots of fun times in summer at the trailer. My love for the white cakes from the bakery, admiration of her raising 5 kids as a single mother. I am known to be more artistic than articulate but I wanted to express my admiration for this amazing lady I have known and will always remember especially on October 16th and Christmas when I hang those special Wizard of Oz ornaments. She will always be mom to me. Miss you Love you Mary Anne Busch
